The master’s program in Research Methods, Measurement, and Evaluation (RMME) leads to a Master of Arts degree in Education. The program is designed for educators and practitioners who wish to become more knowledgeable about measurement, evaluation and assessment practices in schools and other formal or informal educational settings.
The program emphasizes the application of measurement, assessment, and evaluation theory and procedures. We encourage students to supplement their MEA coursework with courses in other discipline areas that best suit their individual goals and objectives.
Individuals with a bachelor’s degree in any major are encouraged to apply. Approximately three semesters of full time study are required as a minimum to complete the master’s degree. A student holding an assistantship, or who is otherwise prevented from carrying a full load of graduate work (normally four courses per semester), generally requires an additional semester to complete the degree.
Most of the courses required for the Master’s Degree are offered in the evening, and some are offered in the summer or online. Therefore, the master’s degree is a viable degree program for a working professional. Please contact our program coordinator, Chris Rhoads at christopher.rhoads@uconn.edu if you are interested in learning more about the Master’s Degree in Research Methods, Measurement, and Evaluation.
RMME Master's Program Prerequisites
There are no official course requirements for admission to graduate study, and students enter the MEA program with a variety of backgrounds. We particularly seek students with a strong interest in measurement, evaluation and assessment issues that affect schools, students, and education policy. The expectation is that graduates will use their training to meet the needs of organizations and schools surrounding the improvement of educational, intervention, program, or practice. No background in statistics is necessary.
